How things are run

Under Christ, the Church Members' Meeting is the final decision-making body of the church.
Among other things, it calls a minister, elects deacons and appoints church officers (Secretary and Treasurer) and organisation leaders. There is provision for up to twelve deacons - both men and women. The Church Meeting takes place every two months.
The minister has four main duties:
*      Planning and leading worship;
*      Preaching and teaching;
*      Pastoral care; and
*      Providing vision for mission.
Deacons assist the minister, but also have more general responsibilities for the day-to-day running of church life. Deacons, elected at the AGM, serve for three years.
In addition, we have a part-time administrator and site-assistant, both of whom can be contacted through the church office.
As an independent church, we are self-financing. Our main income is the offering; a smaller amount comes from room rentals. We encourage regular worshippers to consider a realistic level of giving. An envelope scheme encourages systematic giving; alternatively standing orders can be set up. Those who pay tax can increase the value of their gifts to the church substantially through Gift Aid. All giving is confidential
The church supports its minister as well as a small administrative and cleaning staff. 10% of our budgeted offering supports Baptist Home Mission and BMS World Mission.  Other charities are also supported on a one off basis.
